Tracks use more horse power and require spacers behind the rims to kick the tires out from the body so the tracks won't rub.Then stiffening the axles so as not to draw the rear axle towards the front spitting off the tracks.Generally tracks are used for snow but some folks like them in some mud and swamp aplications,but like certain snow.

The long leg is 4 3/4" long. The last 3/4 of an inch is bent outwards with rounded corners with a small brace welded in the angle. You can get the brackets from the argo dealer for $4.00 or $5.00 with the backup plate but the leg is facing to wrong way to bolt onto a open hole 15" skidoo track so I made my own.

1. as Tim of Adair Argo told me, the tire guides are rough on the tire sidewalls, I will have to make them smoother where it was laser cut. 2. the maxxis snow tires are way too soft for regular tire guides. the 4snow tires are ok in the plastic argo tracks with LARGE tire guides but too soft for the steel tire guides.

Last year I had the supertracks and Martwell had the very same kind of rubber tracks. The performance of his argo 6x6 on rubber versus mine on plastic made the Max4 look like it was on a skating rink with 6 meal trays under the tires. So I waited for Spring, sold the supertracks and start buying all the parts for my own rubber track system.

9 Homemade Argo Tracks The homemade tracks have been test driven and work great. Have about $795 total cost into them. They are 15" snowmobile tracks and the brackets are 1 1/2" x 3/16" aluminum. He also used the Argo connectors. The tracks he acquired from a snowmobile recycler just outside the city for about 25.00 bucks a piece. He figures it cost somewhere around 500.00 to build them.. It is a Frontier with the homemade tracks and that's what prompted my question. Edit** my mistake the title says Frontier but after looking.

Line up the holes on two-track segments, and place a lock bushing in the gap at the center of where the segments meet. Hammer the track pin through the holes and bushing. Add a drop of blue threadlocker to the set screw and install it in the bushing. As you build your track, alternate the direction of each track pin. Preparing the Tires.

Ice cleats: Serrated teeth help the tracks bite into ice for better traction. These cleats mount to holes on every other plastic super track section, or every fourth rubber track section. There are pairs of mounting holes on each track section, but cleats must only be installed using the outer holes to prevent body damage.

#1 ยท Jan 20, 2010 I am in the midst of build a rubber track machine. I am using snowmobile tracks. I am using the tub froma 1988 max 6x6 amphibious vehicle. It has 2 hydraulic wheel motors on the front tubed axle. The white wheels are going to be the drive sprockets. I am welding 2"x 3/16 flat bar across the rims for the teeth.
